Noida-based Green energy firm NexGen Energia is all set to invest INR 15,000 crore over the next 10 years to set up 5,000 green diesel and compressed biogas (CBG) pumps across the country.
The company recently inaugurated its first CBG pump in Mau, Uttar Pradesh. This milestone marks the beginning of its engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services in the clean energy sector.
“The company’s commitment to clean energy goes far beyond this single pump. Plans are afoot to open a total of 5,000 green diesel and CBG pumps across the country in multiple phases over the next 10 years, with each pump costing around INR 3 crore. In this manner, we are set to invest INR 15,000 crore in the green energy sector,” said Piyush Dwivedi, Chairman, NexGen Energia.
If all goes as anticipated, this step of the company will create 5,000 new entrepreneurs, providing direct and indirect employment to over 10 lakh people.
According to Dwivedi, the company aims to make India self-reliant in the green energy sector, thereby reducing fuel imports by about 30 percent.
Earlier this year, NexGen Energia announced an investment of INR 3000 crore in a CBG facility in Gujarat and INR 1,000 crore for setting up an EV manufacturing unit in J&K.
