Unified Energy Interface (UEI) Alliance shared significant progress in its mission to reshape India’s energy landscape. Since its inception in April 2024, the alliance has expanded to 30 members, comprising EV charging companies, energy providers, and leading think tanks. Collectively, UEI now facilitates over 13,000 EV charging sessions daily, dispersing an impressive 60 MWh of energy each day.
UEI is a groundbreaking open network innovation built on the Beckn Protocol, which standardizes economic exchanges in the world of energy transactions. The initiative, backed by the visionaries behind transformative networks like UPI and ONDC, goes beyond EV charging. UEI is advancing groundbreaking solutions, such as peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading, green energy marketplaces, and next-generation energy storage technologies. These efforts are aligned with its broader vision to make energy more accessible, secure, and affordable for everyone.
“The growing adoption of UEI demonstrates how standardization and collaboration can drive meaningful change in the energy sector,” said Anirban Sinha, FIDE. “Our focus is to build a truly interoperable energy ecosystem across India. We are excited by the potential of use cases that are being discussed and demonstrated within the alliance.”
The UEI Alliance brings together major stakeholders in the energy sector, who are committed to global development. The alliance members include Kazam, Turno, Sheru, Sattva Knowledge Institute, WRI, Pulse Energy, Voltreum and other organizations. The alliance focuses on enhancing digital economic transactions between energy platforms. On its website, UEI has enabled organisations with a similar goal to express their interest in participating in the alliance.
Kazam, an India-based technology leader in e-Mobility, is a founding alliance member of UEI, contributing to its collective goal of creating innovative energy solutions that drive efficiency and sustainability in the EV ecosystem.
Akshay Shekhar, Co-founder & CEO, Kazam said “UEI is the only way we can truly see adoption and advancement of EVs in India. UEI solves for standardization and interoperability, which removes friction for range anxiety and ensures mass adoption. With the intelligence layer, it also future-proofs advanced use cases and establishes the right foundation for the energy sector.”
