SECI Signs MoU with Madhya Pradesh Government for 1000 MWh Battery Storage Project

Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Madhya Pradesh government for installing a 1000 MWh battery storage project along with a 200 MW solar project in Dhar under the CPSU Scheme.

The agreement was signed at the two-day Global Investors Summit 2025 by Sivakumar V Vepakomma, Director (Power Systems) SECI and Manu Srivastava, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary (NRE) in the presence of Minister of New & Renewable Energy of Madhya Pradesh Rakesh Shukla and R P Gupta, IAS (Retd) Chairman and Managing Director, SECI.

Organised by the Government of Madhya Pradesh, the Global Investors Summit 2025 was held at Bhopal from February 24-25 and inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi in the presence of Governor of Madhya Pradesh Mangubhai Chhaganbhai Patel  and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.

The 200 MW Solar Project is part of a 500 MW Agreement which was executed in 2023 with MP Power Management Company Limited (MPPMCL) for a period of 25 years under which SECI will supply the electricity to the state. The Navratna CPSU under the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy has proposed a phase-wise capital expenditure of INR 2500 crore for expansion and development of renewable energy in the state.
