NETRA Launches 9 Global Councils to Accelerate Commercialization of Net-Zero Technologies

The NetZero Energy Transition Association (NETRA) has launched nine member-led councils to fast-track the commercialization and global manufacturing scale-up of breakthrough clean technologies vital for an equitable, net-zero future.

Established on Earth Day 2025, NETRA is a not-for-profit international industry platform connecting innovators, manufacturers, investors, researchers, and policymakers. Its mission: to catalyze global collaboration and compress the timeline from early-stage technology development to real-world deployment across energy, industrial, and mobility sectors.

“The net-zero transition is not just about managing climate risk—it’s about unlocking climate wealth. We’re entering an era of transformative opportunity for innovators, manufacturers, and entire economies. But to seize it, we need collaborative ecosystems that transcend national and sectoral boundaries. NETRA’s goal is to bring together the right partners to turn technology breakthroughs into scalable, sustainable impact,” said Dr. Rahul Walawalkar, President, NETRA.

Within weeks of its founding, NETRA has already attracted a growing network of global collaborators including the Earth Day Network,Green Hydrogen Organisation, Norway India Chamber of Commerce & Industry (NICCI), LDES Council, Electrochemical Safety Research Institute (ESRI), UL Research Institute, Microgrid Australia, LIASE Group, Epsilon Advanced Materials, and others.

NETRA’s Nine Councils: A Platform for Collective Action

To address scale-up challenges and accelerate sectoral transformation, NETRA has launched the following focused councils:

  • Advanced Battery Council – Accelerating next-gen battery technologies and manufacturing
  • Clean Industry Transition Council – Supporting decarbonization of steel, cement, and other energy-intensive sectors
  • Cleantech Investment Council – Mobilizing smart capital and de-risking deep tech ventures
  • Grid+ Council – Advancing grid flexibility, storage, and digital infrastructure
  • Global Policy & Standards Council – Aligning regulatory frameworks across borders
  • Manufacturing, Supply Chain & Circular Economy Council – Building resilient, sustainable, and circular supply chains
  • Research, Development & Demonstration (RD&D) Council – Bridging the gap between lab-scale innovation and deployment
  • Sustainable Mobility Council – Driving electrification and new mobility solutions across road, air, and marine
  • Workforce & Skills Development Council – Creating a globally skilled clean energy workforce

Each council hosts structured weekly sessions to:

  • Accelerate adoption-readiness of emerging technologies
  • Share global roadmaps, policies, and early adopter insights
  • Coordinate demonstration pilots and validation programs
  • Foster international partnerships and investment pipelines

What’s Next?

In the coming weeks, NETRA will convene member forums on topics such as:

  • Global Battery Manufacturing & Supply Chain Opportunities
  • Safety & Standards as Enablers for Technology Scale-Up
  • Deep-Tech Investment Pathways for Net-Zero Innovation
  • C&I Decarbonization and Demand Aggregation Models
  • Start-Up Ecosystem Building in Emerging Economies
