India’s Largest BESS Gigafactory by GoodEnough Energy Is Now Operational in Noida

With the Government of India aiming for 500 GW of non-fossil power capacity by 2030 and already surpassing the halfway milestone with 254 GW of renewables, there is an urgent need for up to 230 GWh of energy storage to keep its green grid stable and reliable. In its endeavour to strengthen the battery energy storage system of India and mark a transformative leap for India’s clean energy future, GoodEnough Energy has now commissioned India’s largest Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Gigafactory in Noida. Founded in 2023 by Adit Agarwal, Akash Kaushik and Gaurav Aggarwal, the company aims to build futuristic energy storage solutions for the global market. Now fully operational with an initial 7 GWh capacity, this state-of-the-art facility marks a turning point for Battery Energy Storage Systems in India, setting new benchmarks for the nation’s clean energy infrastructure and signaling it as a dynamic contender in the global energy storage market. GoodEnough Energy has begun rolling out its BESS installations nationwide, witnessing strong demand and encouraging response from leading companies across sectors.

As global battery manufacturing has long been dominated by China and other international giants, this milestone signals India’s emergence as a dynamic force in the advanced battery storage sector and underscores the Government of India’s vision for Atmanirbhar Bharat.

GoodEnough Energy’s Noida Gigafactory stands as a testament to India’s commitment to technological self-reliance. With an investment exceeding INR 450 crore, the company is at the heart of the National Energy Storage Mission and the nation’s Net-Zero ambitions. Plans are in motion to expand the facility’s capacity to over 25 GWh within three years, positioning India as a global leader in grid-scale battery storage.

Addressing company’s vision the co-founders said “India’s clean energy ambitions require more than just advanced technology, they demand vision, resilience, and collaboration. Our Noida Gigafactory is not just a manufacturing facility, but a springboard for innovation, climate leadership, and green job creation. By supporting national initiatives like the National Energy Storage Mission and the PLI scheme, we’re helping build a resilient, sustainable India for generations to come.”

Strategically located in Noida to leverage world-class logistics and a deep pool of engineering talent, the Gigafactory is catalyzing the development of a robust domestic supply chain. The facility is expected to empower the youth in the region with better job avenues, while nurturing an ecosystem of over 100 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) as suppliers and partners, providing a major boost to the regional and national economy.

The Gigafactory’s 7 GWh operational capacity will empower high-emission sectors including manufacturing, infrastructure, healthcare, mining, and commercial real estate to dramatically reduce their carbon footprint. With its ambitious expansion, GoodEnough Energy aims to eliminate up to 15 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions by 2026. For perspective, each litre of diesel burned emits roughly 3 kilograms of CO₂. Just two hours of daily backup power from a 125 KVA diesel generator consumes around 60 litres, resulting in a staggering 180 kg of CO₂ emissions. Additionally, every kilowatt-hour generated from diesel or coal equates to about one kilogram of CO₂ released. At its current capacity, the Gigafactory is designed to prevent over 5 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year, matching the annual carbon reduction target of Indian Railways.

GoodEnough Energy’s advanced BESS technologies are also poised to play a critical role in the rapid expansion of India’s electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, especially in regions with weak grid connectivity. Smart features such as peak shaving, time shifting, and seamless integration with renewable energy sources are engineered to optimize energy costs and drive sustainability for businesses nationwide.
