IFEVA Unveils Curtain Raiser for Historic 21000 KM Bharat Maha EV Rally and 1 Crore Tree Plantation Drive

In a bold push towards environmental sustainability and climate action, the International Federation of Electric Vehicle Association (IFEVA) is set to launch the ‘Bharat Maha EV Rally’, India’s longest and most ambitious electric vehicle rally, starting on September 9, 2025. Coinciding with the rally is a nationwide plantation drive targeting the planting of 1 crore (10 million) trees.

The ‘Bharat Maha EV Rally’ is set to begin from the iconic India Gate in New Delhi, symbolizing a national call to action for climate responsibility

Aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2047, the rally aims to promote awareness and adoption of electric vehicles across both rural and urban India, support climate action and green growth through a nationwide sapling plantation campaign and foster national unity and social harmony, inspired by the ethos of ‘One Earth – One World – One Family.’Besides the above, IFEVA also has concerns for the holistic growth of every individual.

Spanning 21,000 kilometers across all 28 states and 8 union territories over 100 days, the ‘Bharat Maha EV Rally’ is positioned as a flagship event in India’s journey towards reducing  carbon intensity by over 45 percent by 2030. With the support of good many IITs and 40 crore citizens, the initiative seeks the participation of central and state governments, large and MSME EV manufacturers, dealers, distributors, and consumers alike.

To mark the lead-up to the rally, a Pre-Rally Conference & Curtain Raiser was organized on July 5 at Hansraj College, Delhi, in the presence of notable dignitaries including Dr. Shailendra Saroj, Chairman, IFEVA; Dr. Rajeev Mishra, President, IFEVA; Srinivas K. Yerrapothu, Global Vice President, IFEVA, Dr. Deepak Wadhwa, International Vice President, Sunil Bhatnagar, President- Zero Emissions, Dr. Narendra Jha, Vice President Gautam Buddha Nagar, Divesh Garg Secretary Gautam Buddha Nagar, Harinder Mohan Singh President Haryana, Amit Gupta President Uttarakhand , Roshan Lal Vice President Uttarakhand, Shishir Agarwal, Vice President North India, Rajesh Singh Panwar Secretary, Dr. G.N. Gupta President Delhi Baldevraj Sachdeva Chief Advisor, Ashok Manwani President Events, Sudhir Singh Pundhir – President Recycling, Sudhanshu  Agarwal, Pradeep Jaiswal National Convenor, Dr. Ameer Siddqui  President – PWD (People With Disabilities)

The event was graced by Sardar Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Minister of Industries, Food & Supplies and Environment, Forest & Wildlife (Govt. of NCT of Delhi), as the Chief Guest.

The event began with lamp lighting and a welcome and appreciation  note by the Chief Guest and other dignitaries. The Minister delivered an inspiring address, emphasizing Delhi’s urgent need to adopt EVs to combat rising pollution levels. Professors and student volunteers of Hansraj College enthusiastically participated, actively contributing to the event’s organization and discussions, underscoring the role of academia in promoting sustainable mobility.

Dr. Deepak Wadhwa, Managing Director of DNA Technologies set the tone of the first panel discussion joined by prominent industry leaders including Dr. GN Gupta, Chairman of Urja Global, Dr. Narendra Jha, CEO of EVA2z, CA Vikas Gupta, MD, Sampoorn EV, Shishir Agarwal, MD, Shighan eVoltz and Devesh Garg, CEO of Spell Mind as the panelists. Srinivas K. Yerrapothu officially introduced the Bharat Maha EV Rally, followed by a live interaction with Subhendu Jyoti Sinha, Advisor to NITI Aayog, discussing the government schemes.

A special session was organized to explore how EVs and electric public transport can be made more accessible and user-friendly for persons with disabilities. The session was moderated by Dr. Satyendra, HOD, GTB Hospital, and featured insights from Dr. Sudhir Dhir (Sangati Foundation), Dr. Srinivas Goli (HOD, MCD Hospital), Dr. Iytha Malikarjuna (IDEA Foundation), and Manan Chaturvedi (XBHP). The panel focused on the benefits of electric mobility for differently-abled persons, highlighting how inclusive EV design can combine social impact with environmental sustainability, paving the way for more equitable and green transportation solutions.

The third panel discussion, moderated by Sunil Bhatnagar, addressed challenges in EV charging infrastructure. Panelists included Prem Prakash of Servotech, Avdhesh Jha of Fortum Glida, Rajneesh Rana of EESL, Abhishek Singh of ChargeQ and Manoj Gupta of Eco-Fuel EV Charging Technologies (JBM).

The insightful session was followed by another interesting panel discussion moderated by Rajesh Singh Panwar, National Secretary (IFEVA) & Coordinator US Council. The session had Amit Gupta of Earth Mobiity, Gurpal Singh of Otter Electric, AK Parihar of Deloitte and Mukesh Bansal of Telio EV as esteemed panelists.

The event also unveiled the Auto India Expo to be organized at KP Ground, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh from January 23-25 by Chirag Solanki, Director, Exhiconnect media with the support of IFEVA, SMAU International Industry & Trade Chambers, DICCI and BTA.

The conference concluded with a press interaction and a vote of thanks delivered by members of IFEVA, marking the end of a successful curtain raiser and setting the tone for the upcoming ‘Bharat Maha EV Rally’.
