Electric two-wheeler manufacturer Ather Energy has revealed its plans to open its third manufacturing facility in Maharashtra. Made in an investment of INR 2,000 crore, the plant will reportedly be located at Bidkin, Aurangabad Industrial City, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar.
The company has two manufacturing plants in Hosur Tamil Nadu. This will apparently be the company’s first plant outside the state. With the new facility, Ather Energy aims to produce 10 lakh scooters/electric batteries every year. The new manufacturing plant is expected to generate employment for around 4,000 employees and allow Ather to move closer to more markets in the country and meet the increasing demand for its products.
Talking about the new production unit, Swapnil Jain, Co-founder and CTO at Ather Energy emphasized that the existing facilities remain crucial for Ather.
Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra took to the micro-blogging site to express his happiness. “A meeting was held with Ather Energy founder Swapnil Jain. The company has chosen Aurangabad in Maharashtra to set up its third manufacturing plant. I am happy with this,” he wrote on X.
Currently, the existing two plants of Ather Energy have annual capacities of 4.3 lakh battery packs and 4.2 lakh scooters, respectively.
Ather Energy provides four models i.e. Ather 450S, Ather 450X, Ather 450 Apex and Ritza, the newly launched Ather’s first family scooter.
