AMPIN Energy Transition has successfully commissioned its first solar open access project for the Eastern region in Chhattisgarh. The 50 MWp solar plant, located in Village Gatapar, Bemetara district, is supplying clean energy to Texmaco Rail & Engineering Ltd and one of the largest steel manufacturers in Chhattisgarh.
The project, completed in a record time of just nine months, marks AMPIN’s debut in the state of Chhattisgarh. The project holds strategic importance for AMPIN as it strengthens the company’s renewable portfolio in the Eastern Region and showcases the state’s progressive GEOA policy and ease of doing business, which foster a strong investment climate.
The plant is expected to generate approximately 78.21 million units of green energy annually. This will result in a reduction of nearly 64,132 tonnes of CO₂ emissions every year, equivalent to planting around 3.05 million trees or removing 13,942cars from the road or powering nearly 65,175 households each year, contributing significantly to India’s clean energy and sustainability goals.
This project offers its customers the opportunity to replace more than 80 percent of their conventional grid power with renewable energy. This shift is expected to generate substantial energy cost savings of about 30-40 percent compared to prevailing Discom tariffs. More importantly, it ensures a sustainable, reliable, and predictable power supply for these industries.
AMPIN is constructing an additional 21 MWp project and developing a further 100 MWp of renewable energy in Chhattisgarh.
Commenting on the project commissioning and inauguration, Pinaki Bhattacharyya, Founder, MD & CEO, AMPIN Energy Transition said, “We are proud to commission our first open-access solar project in Chhattisgarh, a state with immense potential for renewable energy growth. This milestone underscores our commitment to advancing India’s sustainability goals while delivering substantial cost savings and dependable green power to our customers. AMPIN already has a strong foothold in the region with multiple operational projects in West Bengal and a solar manufacturing facility under construction in Odisha. With Chhattisgarh’s progressive GEOA policy and investor-friendly ecosystem, we are confident of accelerating our expansion and driving a greener future in Eastern India.”
Avijit Mitra, CEO (Steel Foundry Division), Texmaco Rail & Engineering Ltd said“Our association with AMPIN Energy marks a significant step in our journey towards green manufacturing and operational excellence at our Raipur facility. By transitioning to renewable energy, we are not only reducing our dependence on conventional sources but also making measurable progress in lowering our carbon footprint. This partnership reflects Texmaco’s commitment to sustainable growth and responsible manufacturing. We look forward to a long and impactful collaboration with AMPIN in shaping a cleaner, greener future.”
