All You Need to Know about Bajaj Freedom 125 – the World’s First CNG Bike

Since its launch, Bajaj Auto’s latest offering, the Freedom, has been garnering eyeballs of bike enthusiasts. What’s grabbing attention is the fact that it is the world’s first mass-production CNG two-wheeler. The Freedom 125 CNG bike looks dashing and youthful with its commuter-style design. While it runs on petrol, it can switch to CNG at just the press of a button!

The 125cc motorcycle comes in three variants: NG04 Disc LED, NG04 Drum and NG04 Drum LED. It has a round headlight (LED illumination for the Disc LED and Drum LED models, and a halogen bulb for the base model), a long seat, and an upright rider triangle. The Disc LED trim features a reverse LCD with smartphone connectivity while the other two models get an LCD without any connectivity. All the models get CBS for its safety net.

The Freedom is powered by a 125cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine. It develops 9.37bhp at 8,000rpm and 9.7Nm at 5,000rpm and gets a five-speed gearbox. With its 2-litre petrol tank and 2 kg CNG cylinder, the Freedom 125 claims to complete 330km in one go.

If we talk about the hardware specifications, the bike includes conventional telescopic front forks and a monoshock. All three variants ride on 17-inch front and 16-inch rear wheels; however The Bajaj Freedom 125’s entry-level model, the NG04 Drum uses an 80/90 front and 80/100 rear tyre while Disc LED and Drum LED use a 90/80 front and 120/70 rear tyres. The top-spec gets a front disc and rear drum brake setup whereas the remaining two use drum brakes at both ends.

The base model comes in two colours: Pewter Grey – Yellow and Ebony Black – Red while the other two variants are available in five appealing colours: Racing Red, Pewter Grey – Black, Ebony Black – Grey, Caribbean Blue, and Cyber White. The variant-wise Bajaj Freedom 125 price (ex-showroom):

  • Bajaj Freedom 125 NG04 Drum LED – INR 1.05 lakh
  • Bajaj Freedom 125 NG04 Disc LED – INR 1.10 lakh

Bajaj claims that the Freedom 125 has been crash-tested, and run over by trucks while the CNG tank remains intact.
